初来日のチラシ


川崎公演のチケット

　Dream Theater初来日公演を収録したBootleg。冷静にきいてみるとリズムが早いしVo.は荒い。実際彼らの生初体験している最中はそれどころじゃなかったのですが。オーディエンスが皆興奮のるつぼ化状態、狂喜乱舞している様子がすごく良く記録されている。
　'03/4/26追記：「Forbidden Dreams」Bootlegリリース後、熱心なファンの間で話題沸騰だったこの「Moon Bubbles」の収録日は'92/11/19の大阪公演であることが判明した。この「Moon Bubbles」は大阪という地名が特定できるMCの部分を巧みに消したその筋のプロの仕業であった。従って東京／川崎公演の音源は未だ流出していない。なお、この件に関してはファンジン「Carpe Diem! No.16」でも記載されている。他公演は番長ポーからいずれ何らかの形でリリースされることを期待したい。

　東京よりも早く大阪に入荷したBootleg。知り合いから大阪の新星堂で買ってもらいました。おそらく、名古屋産と思われます。(^^;
　Jag PanzerはかつてJoey Tafollaが在籍していたことで有名なコロラド出身のBand。またオリジナルVo.のThe Tyrantは一時期Riotに在籍しTitan Forceにも加入しているということで、U.S.インディーズ・シーンの草分け的存在。この「Chain of Command」は'87にリリースされた3rdアルバムで、Joey Tafolla、The Tyrantが去った後の作品なので目立つことなく廃盤になっていたため、このような形となって出てしまったのだと思います。ジャケットも酷いし。ウルトラＤ級でしょう。(^^; "In-a-Gadda-da-Vida"はIron ButterflyのCover。
　さて、MajestyのDemoですが、"Vital Star"は何故か抜けています。当時はDream Theater前身Bandをきけるということで非常に価値のあるBootlegでした。

　2CD。10曲目からDisc Twoとなる。"Under a Glass Moon"のLaBrieの攻撃的でイケイケな声が今となっては懐かしく感動的だ。"Take The Time"におけるオーディエンスのマニア度にも注目。(^^;
　'89のLiveはテープのヒスノイズが気になるものの貴重なDominiciのVo.。Dominiciは1stをリリースした後僅かしかLiveをやっていないため、レア度は異様に高い。しかしLaBrieと比べてしまうと実力の差が歴然としてしまう。'89の"Metropolis - Part 1"をきくと分かるのだが、既にスタジオ盤とほぼ同等のアレンジになっており、完成の域になっていたことには興味深い。'89の"The Killing Hand"の出だしはKey. Soloからギターが入ってくる展開。現在のアレンジと大分異なっているため興味深いが残念ながらフェードアウトして終えてしまう。
　なお、どちらのLiveとも音の定位が不安定なBootなのが残念。全体的にドンシャリ型。

　イタリア産Bootleg。低音が強調されていて、John Myungのプレイがききどころ。演奏、音質とも安定して素晴らしい。ただ、ギターが若干引っ込み気味なのが唯一残念。現在とアレンジがかなり異なる"Eve"、Kevin Moore在籍時の"A Change of Seasons"がきけるというマニア垂涎の内容。マスト・アイテムの一つ。

　ジャケがいいが音が悪いBootとして有名。(笑) 客のコーラスがうるさい。しかもタイミングが違って笑われている奴がいて和んでしまう。(^_^; もっと静かなオーディエンスのところで録って欲しかったというのが本音。テープの回転も若干早いと思う。

しかもMetropolis Part 1もカットされているは、曲名クレジットは間違ったまま記述しているは（"Status Seeker"なんかやっていません）救いのないBootlegです。

　FM音源のようで時々ノイズが入ったりします。その点を除けば音質は良いです。この日の録音ではこのBootlegが一番です。LaBrieさんVersionの"Status Seeker"がきけるのは貴重ですが、この曲に関しては彼にあまりマッチしていない感じがします。"Under a Glass Moon"は今のDream Theaterではもうやらないのアレンジですね。個人的にはここに収められているVersionでの展開が好きです。
